Photographer David Akkoubian using a Lensbaby to photograph a frogIf you have a fast connection to the Internet, you may enjoy this video of photographer David Akoubian's introduction to an SLR lens, the Lensbaby. A "Lensbaby" is a flexible lens attachment created by the folks at Lensbaby.com which alters the light rays impending upon a camera's digital sensor, creating an area of strictly controlled focus, beyond which everything else is blurred.
On a sunny Saturday morning, August 30th, 2008, David spent 30 minutes in the heart of the Atlanta Botanical Garden discussing the features and advantages of the Lensbaby flexible lens attachment. You see him speaking here in front of the Dorthy Chapman Fuqua Conservatory to an audience that included several members of the Sweetwater Camera Club as well as members of the Atlanta Photographic Society. Above right, you will find a picture of David using a basic Lensbaby. Click on it to enlarge . . . below the embedded video you will see the resulting Frog photo. Notice that the foreground and background have become quite blurry, while the frog's eyes are sharp. That is exactly what a lensbaby can do for you.
