April Field Trip to Oakland Cemetery on hold due to tornado damage!
By Sweetwater Camera Club

Our next field trip was planned for Oakland Cemetery. Currently that trip is on hold due to the tornado that hit Atlanta and did extensive damage to Oakland last month. If you would like to volunteer some time and energy to help the beleaguered cemetery, please visit the Oakland Cemetary website.

Stay tuned for more field trip announcements – we plan on having at least one field trip per month for the entire year—and hope to reschedule the Oakland trip for later in the year.

We have planned two additional field trips for late spring:

On Saturday, May 17th our field trip will coincide with some additional Sweetwater Camera Club activities for the Taste For Douglasville Arts, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at O’Neil Plaza in downtown Douglasville.

On Saturday, June 7th, our field trip will once again be in Douglasville at the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Any photos made by SCC members during these two events will qualify to be entered into the Field Trip contest which will be judged at the June meeting on Thursday evening, June 12th. There is a garden tour organized for the Hydrangea festival. The tickets to the gardens are $25 per person. However, there will be many other low cost or no cost activities and photographic opportunities. You can read much more at http://www.pennymchydrangeafestival.com/
SCC Member Linda Britt can give you first hand information since she is involved in the planning of this series of events.
