January Meeting Cancelled
Written by Richard Nichols

Hello, Sweetwater Camera Club members and friends,

For the first time in 5 years, the monthly meeting of the Sweetwater Camera Club is cancelled due to ice and snow. Those of us here in the Douglas County, Georgia area know just how treacherous the conditions have been these past 3 days. Even with the melting of the ice and snow on many of the roads, there is no need for anyone to risk life and limb (or automobile and contest print) by venturing out tomorrow.

If you know others in the Sweetwater Camera Club (and there are at least 88 members at this time) who might not receive this message, please call them and let them know of this cancellation. The driveway to St. Julian’s Church is steep and the conditions after dark tomorrow will be unpredictable on our roads. Outside temperatures are not due to rise above freezing until Friday.

The officers of the SCC have been consulted and we are in agreement that it is best to push our January meeting agenda over to February. Our scheduled speaker, John Williams, the general manager of Showcase Photo & Video in Atlanta, has agreed to move his presentation to Thursday, February 10th. The Silhouettes photo contest will also be moved forward to February.

Once the snow melts, we have an upcoming field trip to Cartersville to the Tellus Museum. More information will be announced at a later time.

Thank you all for your support. If you would like to pay your 2011 dues, please visit the Sweetwater Camera Club website at http://www.sweetwatercameraclub.org/membership . The cost is $20 per individual per calendar year, or $35 per family. Thus far we have had several renewals. This is a good time renew and mark it off your to-do list.

Thank you, and congratulations to our contest winners from December!

Richard
