Goodevening, SCC Members, visitors and friends,
Tomorrow evening, Friday, December 2nd is the next field trip for the Sweetwater Camera Club and you are invited to bring your cameras. 2012 Field Trip Chairman David Stephens would like to remind everyone of our Field Trip to Downtown Douglasville at O’Neal Plaza for the 2nd Annual Christmas Parade, Concert and Tree Lighting. This event is local, convenient, at a good time, and free. According to the city’s website:
“Enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas Friday, Dec. 2 at the 2nd Annual City of Douglasville Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting. Starting at 6:30 p.m., Santa will lead the parade as grand marshal along the festive streets of downtown Douglasville. Following the parade, the sounds of Christmas will fill the air during a concert of carols on O’Neal Plaza featuring live performances by Burnett Elementary School, Douglas County High School, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church. Just Dance Performing Arts will also perform. Children of all ages can visit and take pictures with Santa before the lighting of the tree, which will be the final event of the night.”

or call her at 770-942-6972. We will have Room 208 open for setup at 6 p.m. at Hunter Park Community Center.
We hope to be able to announce the Photographer of the Year for 2011 by the end of the party.
2. Wednesday, December 14th: Alexander High School Wrestling Matches Field Trip: David Stephens and Carl Pearson have set up our mid December field trip to Alexander High School, to photograph high school wrestling teams. Carl is a wrestling coach, among his many talents which include computer programming and winning photo contests. Here are the details: Douglas County Duals Wrestling Championships will be held on Wednesday, December 14th at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Alexander High School. AHS is located at 6500 Alexander Parkway, Douglasville GA 30135. Admission is $5.00 per person and $2 per student (student rate might not be precise). According to Carl, photography is encouraged. !
3. Thursday, January 12th, 2012: January Meeting of the SCC at Hunter Park Community Center: Our lecturer for the evening will be John Mariana from the Booth Photography Guild. John will be speaking on Creative Black and White Photography. Please come prepared to pay for your annual membership of $20 per person or $35 per family. This year we need to have all return memberships paid by January 31st, as the photo contest rules and other details may change. As discussed at our November meeting, if we proceed as we have in the past to allow members to wait until later in the new year to pay, the “Photographer of the Year” portion of the contest could easily become corrupted. A “last year’s member” could essentially enter and win places in the monthly photo contests for January through March of the new year, then drop out of the club. This could cost a paying member her or his position as Photographer of the Year, because of competition and points awarded to a person who isn’t a member. Our officers and chairpeople for 2012 will meet together soon and handle these issues during the next few weeks. Our long term goal is to have everyone pay for the next year’s membership by December 31st each year or no later than the first meeting of that year in order to close loopholes, prevent misunderstandings and gain better control over the administration of the SCC.
We hope to see you at Douglasville’s 2nd annual Christmas Parade tomorrow. Bring your Christmas Spirit and a camera . . .
Richard
